Meet Pastor Saul of Lott Carey School

Pastor Saul was born on August 18, 1966 in Leogane Haiti. He knew from an early age that he would become a school teacher some day. His parents (both from Leogane) were farmers. From sugar cane to rice and corn, they needed a lot to support him, his five brothers and seven sisters.

He went to college to be a school teacher, and then followed God’s call by attending the Haiti Mission EBX BALL WOLD College to become a pastor in 1990.

In July of 1993, he married a young lady by the name of Ketley. She was a school teacher who grew up in his neighborhood as well. Her intelligence was amazing.

They tried to have children, but struggled and ended up adopting a little girl. Hendrick was hooked, and he knew that God wanted him to serve children. They were heartbroken when after 6 years, the little girl's birth parents took back their adopted daughter. Soon after, their biological daughter Hendriana was born in 2000.

Pastor Saul has been at Lott Carey Church for 30 years. He has been leading/teaching at Lott Carey School for 20 years. God has used him to build the school to over 300 children, and now a full high school will be built! Construction will start soon. He loves inspiring the children the most. He pushes them and expects them to do well, whether they are poor or not. The toughest part of his job is when he is trying to help a student who will not respond.

From recovery after the devastating earthquake of 2010 (the entire Lott Carey School was destroyed) to weathering political turmoil and unrest, his faith in God has never changed. He knows that God will always guide him. He says “God talks to me, and I can trust Him.” Whether it is with being blessed with a daughter or seeing the school rebuilt, he knows that God is in control.

The Haiti Kids School team is amazed at all Pastor Saul and his team at Lott Carey are able to accomplish, and we thank him for his ongoing service to the school, staff, and children.
