Meet Our Haiti Kids School Team

Pastor Hendrick Saul, Lott Carey School Principal, is also the pastor of the Lott Carey Baptist Church that shares the site with Lott Carey School.  Pastor Saul says he knew from an early age that he would become a school teacher some day, and  he later went to college for teaching. Following a calling, he attended Haiti Mission EBX BALL WOLD College and became a pastor in 1990. He's been a teacher and leader at Lott Carey for 30 years and resides with his wife and daughter in Leogane.

Benson, Lott Carey School Nurse and Team Liaison, grew up in St. Louis du Nord in the north part of the country. He finished nursing school in 2017 at Faculté des Sciences Infirmières de l'Université Épiscopale d'Haïti and has worked as a dental intern and a school nurse. Bension translates for American nurses and church teams, and he continues to serve over 300 children at the Lott Carey School. He also tutors children in school and teaches them computer skills.


Christina Bristol, Board of Directors Chair, lives with her husband Tim, kids and dogs in Waconia MN. She has been traveling to Haiti with her family since 2008. She loves the people of Haiti and she considers her friends there as family.  Christina joined the board to help facilitate growing the school in Haiti and helping make sure the students get hot lunches. Her favorite memory from Haiti is going to Jacmel on the coast, shopping and drinking Haitian Rebo frappes!

Dana Nelson, Board of Directors Treasurer, is retired from a career in Inventory Control and lives with his daughter in Chanhassen, MN. Dana was involved in Haiti projects for a few years prior to 2017, but didn’t travel to Haiti until 2017. During his first trip he fell in love with Haiti, especially the students at Haiti Kids School. 

Audain Z. Tranchant, Board Member, is a Medical Doctor in Haiti, Dominican Republic, and a Health Administrator in New York. He participated in many nonprofits’ organizations, doing mobile clinics all over Haiti. He is always willing to help when it is about his country and most of all his community. Audain is a recent board member of Haiti Kids School and was more than happy to be part of the team, to keep in touch with his Haitian people and his community, Léogane.

Kelly Dunlap, Board Member lives in MN and is enjoying time with her husband as an empty nester. She has a background in clinical psychology and worked for many years at a local non profit supporting families with young children. Kelly was introduced to Haiti Kids School by her daughter, Mackenzie, who traveled to Leogane on a mission trip. Mackenzie returned home with a heart for Haiti and Kelly was able to join her on a trip there where they forged strong friendships while in Haiti and hold dear the many friends they have in Leogane. Kelly is happy to join the board in order to stay connected to the community of Leogane.

Karin Sherrill, Board Member volunteered for the Haiti Kids School Board after feeling a calling to do more to help. After visiting Leogane three times with her family, Karin developed a love for the Haitian people and the joy in their hearts. Karin is a nurse educator in Arizona and had enjoyed working with nursing students and faculty in Leogane, while her husband and son have worked to train the teens of Lott Carey School in basic carpentry skills.  

Mollie Butts, Board Member & Secretary was raised in Wisconsin and is Christina's sister. She recently moved and lives with her husband and two dogs in Palmetto, Florida. Mollie has a 20-year-old son who lives in Wisconsin. She joined the board to assist with secretarial duties and to help make a bigger difference in the lives of those in Haiti. Mollie and her husband Sam have been supporting a sponsored child in Haiti for almost five years now. She looks forward to serving and supporting initiatives for Haiti Kid School.

Beth Gasser, Board Member is a small business owner with her husband in Hutchinson, MN. Beth first traveled to Pignon, Haiti in 2007 with a Rotary International group to work on digging water wells and fell in love with the people and country. She traveled back to Haiti in 2018, and after returning from her time in Leogane, Beth joined the Haiti Kids School Board to continue her connection and friendships in Haiti.Beth helps out with marketing and fundraising and would love to hear from anyone with a fun or unique fundraising idea.

Tim Bristol, Executive Director, is a nurse from Minnesota. He travels to Haiti a couple of times a year to work with our school (Lott Carey School) and nurses in local universities and hospitals. He often travels to Haiti with his wife and 4 children and sets up trips for others to join. While not on the Board of Directors for Haiti Kids School, Tim is the Executive Director. He helps to coordinate day to day operations and stay connected with all of our friends in Haiti.

Jennifer, Lott Carey School Nurse, is from the the city of Miragoâne which is about 40 miles west of Leogane along the coastline. Jennifer is our newest member of the Haiti Kids School team. She went to school at the College Saint Jean Baptiste and secondary school at College Canado. She later attended nursing school at FSIL in Leogane and gained experience working at l’hopital Sainte Croix from 2018-2019. She later worked as a research nurse at Christianville until 2022, when she came to Lott Carey School to provide medical care and conduct well-child visits. When not working, Jennifer enjoys reading, watching movies, and listening to music.

Catherine Flom, Haiti Kids School Engagement & Development Coordinator is from Minnesota. Catherine works to keep us organized, our student records updated, and fundraising ideas coming in. Catherine was previously a second grade teacher at Lake Region Christian School. She has spent years as a camp counselor at Miracle Bible Camp where she met & married her husband of three years. They have two sons together. When not working she enjoys kayaking, reading, drawing, and spending time with family. She hopes to be able to travel to Haiti one day.

Danta Bien-Aimé, Board Member, is an alumna of the nursing school in Léogâne. Since graduating in 2014, she has worked on several community-based programs focusing on women's health or early childhood development in Gonaives and Northern Haiti. She is passionate about ecosystem building, research and community resilience. Danta is happy to serve on the board of HKS and contribute to the best she can.
