Nutrition

In the community we serve, 80% of families do not have food for tomorrow. We know that food and water are the most basic of human needs; increasing nutrition and access to clean water serves to strengthen students for learning, concentration, and focus, and also buffers them from despair.

Haiti Kids School has helped improve Lott Carey’s onsite kitchen facilities for the school cooks, facilitate the upgrade and maintenance of the clean water well on the property, and fund the daily school lunch program. This meal plays a vital role in the students’ well-being and survival; often this daily meal is the only meal they will receive. When supplies are available, students receive extra food to take home on weekends. Special needs of families are addressed through well checks to the home and through conversation with parents or caregivers. Together, we identify and address needs to ensure students can continue to attend school.
